João Cabral was born in Lisbon on 16th June, 1994.
At the age of four his parents broke up and he went to Almada with his mother. He lived there only for two years, after his mother settled down he returned to Lisbon.
All his family are crazy about Benfica and football, so he followed the natural course and started playing football in Benfica, when he was six.
At this age he was studying in CEBE, a private school in the neighbourhood.
In his childhood, he studied all along in Benfica area, even when he lived in Almada.
In his football career, after Benfica, he moved to Belenenses, where he played for two years. After that, he moved to Estrela da Amadora where he spent one year. At fourteen he left football practice and two years later he tried another sport, which was volleyball, again in Benfica.
In the summer of 2010, he lost important and significant relatives in his life; such as an uncle, an aunt and his grandmother. They died between July and August of that year. It was a very hard time to him and his family, because he was and he still is attached to his family.
In spite of that, he lived, in general, a pleasant childhood.
After high school he graduated from Catholic University, in Lisbon. He studied Business and Administration and he did his Master degree in Sport Management.
As he was a high standard student he had the opportunity to accomplish his dream and he became Benfica's sports director up today.
